By integrating the 1550nm DFB transmitter and 1310nm PIN receiver into a simplex LC interface, it supports 10km to 3km link distance via a single mode fiber (SMF). Compared with a regular SFP, this BiDi transceiver allows end-users to reduce the total cost of fiber cabling infrastructure by requiring only half of the fiber cables. That provides increased transmission capacity and simplifies installation without the need for new fibers.
