Original Item. Only One Available. A French Army général de division translates as a “general of division”. The French Air and Space Force equivalent is général de division aérienne (literally “general of air division”). Rank insignia is that of 3 white stars on the epaulette, sleeve mark or shoulder board. After World War II, the corresponding rank of divisional general was changed to major general, and before that it corresponded to lieutenant general. This is a very scarce French WWII Kepi for a Divisional General, as indicated by the three star devices to the front. Below these is a gorgeous bullion-embroidered chinstrap held in by two gilt General Officer’s buttons. The exterior is in great condition although there are some nips in the fabric to the side. The interior shows a well-retained leather sweatband with great stitching, and an olive green lining. There is no maker mark we can find. An outstanding kepi, the first French General’s kepi we’ve ever had! Ready for further research and display.
