Description Our Lady of Perpetual Help Plaque with gold leaf from Italy Icon is made in Italy and measures approximately 9 1/2 high x 7 3/4″ wide by 3/8′ thick. Plaque is edged with gold leaf; hanger is attached to back. Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help booklet is included. This image is a rendition of the original icon which was discovered in the fifteenth century. Painted on wood, it is said to be a copy of the original painted by Saint Luke. It shows Jesus seeing the instruments of the passion and fleeing to the comforting arms of His mother in such haste that He nearly loses a sandal. Mary’s hands are open as she gazes at her son. We are also invited to flee to her protection.
