Description Includes: Oak framed metal icon of Saint Patrick of Ireland approximately 7 1/4″ x 7 5/8″; visible image measures approximately 6″ x 4 3/4″. This is a copy of an icon written by Orthodox Iconographer, Father Ephrim, (recently deceased). Image is used with permission. Oak wood display stand made by Mater Dei Imports in the USA. St. Patrick is shown with a a crosier (staff) indicating that he is a bishop and founder of the Irish Church. The Celtic cross emblem on his garment is a combination of symbols seen in ancient designs and given new meaning to teach about the one true God and the Catholic Faith: The circle is symbolic of eternity, no beginning and no end, the everlasting love of God and the hope of the crucifixion and resurrection. The Cross & Sun are Celtic symbols of life. Added by the iconographer is the configuration of the fingers that actually shapes the letters IC XC, an abbreviation for the Greek words Jesus (IHCOYC) Christ (XPICTOC) which includes the first and last letter of each word.
